Beware Of The Dogs

PLASTIC PEOPLE
W/M Bill Itzel 4/3/98
Everywhere I look, I see,
Plastic faces smiling at me
Though content in hardened shells,
Their eyes another story tells
And though they never show within,
They’re more than just the mannequin
Behind their confident facade
Lies a heart that needs the love of God
CHORUS
Jesus loves the plastic people
He can see through their disguise
Jesus died for the plastic people
He listens to their lonely cries
Yes, He listens to their lonely cries
I know a girl who tries to be different
She’s unique, like all the rest
She doesn’t know that on the inside
Is where she should strive to look her best
And there’s a man who’s made his money
He’s living life free and fast
He’s got it all, but he’s got nothing
He’s put his stock in what will not last
CHORUS
CHORUS
SELF SERVE WORLD
w/Karen, Bill, Adam J., and Stacy Itzel m/Bill Itzel 4/18/98
We’re rushing to and fro
yeah, we’re on the go
running people down in our way
We’re out to gratify
and satisfy
all our own desires everyday
All in a hurry to get nowhere
Stockpiling treasures, nobody wants to share
CHORUS
We’re livin’ in a self serve world
Looking out for number one
We’re livin’ in a self serve world
Living life on the run
Each life touches another
How will we treat our brother?
Will we really live
or just live in a self serve world?
We’re doing our best
to gain success
with love in our heart so it seems
But, we’re using our friends
to be first in the end
but, do the ends justify the means
We’ve got no time, get out of my way!
Everybody wants to live for today
CHORUS
Do unto others
As you would have them do to you
Show love like the Father
That’s all we’ve got to do
CHORUS
THE WAR
W/BILL & KAREN ITZEL, M/BILL ITZEL 4/18/98
They stood before accusers
Suffering in shame
Yet they counted it a privilege
To die in Jesus’ name
These martyrs stood in victory
And bravely took the sword
And though they lost their lives that day
Great was their reward
CHORUS
To live is Christ, to die is gain
Though we may suffer through the greatest pain
If our eyes are fixed on Jesus whom we’re fighting for
We may lose the battle, but thank God, we’ve won the war
He stood before the doctors
There was no more they could do
But, he believed the Great Physician
Could make his body new
But even if his Savior
Chose to take him home
His joy would be far greater
To stand before the throne
CHORUS
If our eyes are fixed on Jesus whom we’re fighting for
We may lose the battle, but thank God, we’ve won the war
We’ve won the war
CHORUS
If our eyes are fixed on Jesus whom we’re fighting for
We may lose the battle, but thank God, we’ve won the war
GOD GAVE ME YOU
w/m Bill Itzel (3/6/98)
I prayed for God to give me
Children of my own
To teach them, to train them
In the way that they should go
And now, it gives me greatest joy
To see God shining through
And to know you’re passing on the love
That I have given you
God gave me you
To take care of
To love with all my heart
God gave me you
To hold in my arms
And make everything alright
And if you ever need me
I’ll be faithful and true
I’m so glad, God gave me you
I prayed for God to give me
A girl to be my wife
Someone to be my best friend
Someone to share my life
And even though there’ll be rocky paths
Ahead that we must climb
I know that we can make it
If you just put your hand in mine
And because we are a family
There’s a bond you can’t ignore
But, because we all love Jesus
That bond is so much more
And if you ever need me
I’ll be faithful and true
I’m so glad, yes, I’m so glad
I’m so glad, God gave me you
BEWARE OF THE DOGS
w/m Bill Itzel (2/8/98)
OW! OW! Beware of the dogs
OW! OW! Beware of the evil doers
OW! OW! Beware of the dogs
OW! OW! Beware of the evil doers
When you live in the doghouse it gets so cold
And there ain’t no food left in the bowl
It’s more like famine and less like feast
But then, that’s the nature of the beast
Sin will tempt you and say that it’s fun
But when it bites, it’s too late to run
Stay back from the fence before you get cut
‘Cause try as you might, you can’t tame this mutt
GOD MADE A SEEKER OUT OF ME
w/m Bill Itzel - 3/15/98
God made a seeker out of me
God made a seeker out of me
Before the world began
I was part of redemption’s plan
God made a seeker out of me
There is none that’s righteous, no not one
There are none of us that seek after the Son
But He made an offer I couldn’t refuse
Now there’s no way I can lose
‘Cause the victory in my life has been won
You may have sought the answers with your mind
But have felt around your heart the chains that bind
If you just trust today, it’s true
He’s made a seeker out of you
And the Word says “Seek and you will find”
WHEN YOU MEET THE CROSS
w/m Bill Itzel 4/9/98
You have reached the destination
and it’s weighing on your mind
Will you choose the restoration
or will you be left behind
The path ahead is narrow
while the second path is wide
Will you choose the road to heaven?
or will you choose the other side?
When you meet the cross
There’s a time of great decision
When you meet the cross
Leave behind your derision
When you see the blood running down
and cleansing all around
Don’t resist the drawing sound
When you meet the cross
The words of Christ are echoing
in your ears today
“To know the truth, to live the life,
I am the only way”
The Master calls to follow
Take up your cross and live
Leave behind your old life
He’s got something more to give
Lay aside your earthly pride
He will come and dwell inside
I’LL PRESS ON TOWARD THE MARK
w/m Bill & Karen Itzel 4/9/98
There was a man who had accomplished many feats that led to fame
But in the end his fortune brought him no eternal gain
But he found a new direction and his old life was a loss
Because the things that seemed important could not compare to the cross
I’ll press on toward the mark
I’ll press on toward the goal
I will run the race upon my knees
I will dedicate my soul
I will burn with passions fire
from the very start
and even when I’m weary,
I’ll press on toward the mark
Each day, I am tempted to be temporally fed
Things are taking up my time and I forget to look ahead
I must daily keep perspective and put things in their place
And one day, I’ll be rewarded when I see Him face to face
I surrender all, I surrender all
All to Thee my Blessed Savior
I surrender all
GOD’S TIMING IS PERFECT
w/Pat Itzel m/Bill Itzel 4/9/98
I thought I knew what was best for me
I knew what I wanted my life to be
I planned my future, my goals, my days
I never bothered to seek His ways
I pushed ahead and made my plans
I thought my life was in my hands
Then those things seemed to fall apart
‘Till the Lord spoke peace unto my heart
God’s timing is perfect
He knows what is best
And He has plans for us
In Him we must rest
We are so impatient
Yes, we want control
But when we wait for His timing
We’ll find rest for our soul
It’s hard to wait for what we want
Since the Devil loves to taunt
He says, “if God loves you, He’d do it now
It doesn’t matter when or how”
But I chose to wait for God’s own time
To give me what I thought was mine
And I found just as a wanting child
He was giving His best all the while
LIVIN’ BY THE LAW OF LOVE
w/Karen & Bill Itzel, m/Bill Itzel 4/17/98
I begin with myself
And see there’s no worth
Without the touch from the Man
Of virgin birth
Now, I’m gonna love God
And my neighbor too
Not out of obligation
But it’s what I want to do
CHORUS
I’m not livin’ by a list of what man decides
I’m walkin’ by faith, God’s Word is my guide
When I ask, I will receive the answers from above
I’m not livin’ by the law,
I’m livin’ by the law of love
The nation Moses led
Out of Egypt’s halls
Had hearts so hardened
God gave them many laws
But now we’re in an age
Where we’ve been set free
‘Cause Jesus took the law
And nailed it to a tree
CHORUS
I’m free to serve - my fellow man
Free to love - and not tear down
Free to give - all that I can give
Free to do - what I know is right
Free to be - pleasing in His sight
Free to learn - how He wants me to live
CHORUS
I’m not living by the law, not living by the law
not living by the law, not living by the law
I’m not living by the law, I’m livin’ by the law of love
